High Temps
I have one good question that I've actually been thinking about and I have caught myself paying close attention. That would be the awesome weather of bakersfield. If climate is warming up I really wonder how hot each summer is going to be getting. I know we've had record breaking weather before, so I do understand that our climate will hopefully decrease. Who knows..

Earthquake...again
I know this happened a few weeks ago but I'm going to recall on the Magnitude 8 earthquake that struck off the Solomon Islands. The earthquake also produced a small tsunami that struck small coastal villages on the islands, killing several people. The wave was said to be about 3 ft hitting islands like Santa Cruz and Vanuatu. This actually wasn't the first time a tsunami generated by an earthquake to have struck these islands. Back in April 2007 an 8.1 magnitude earthquake produced a tsunami that killed more than 50 people and caused damage to coastal villages. These islands which are comprised of over 200 lie on the Ring of Fire where most of the earths quakes occur. Places like Japan are known for there multiple quakes. The interesting question is when will we see an earthquake like the one from India that produced that disastrous tsunami hit the Solomon islands or even our coastal areas in California.

I was watching a video about the evolution of the Grand Canyon. Come to find out that many scientist and the science community still argue about how the Grand Canyon was formed. It is easy to say that it was due to a river cutting through the rock. The question I guess for all of this is what river and how did it all began. One theory was that a large lake spilled out and made its way across what is now the Grand Canyon and eventually over time carved a massive amount of rock along with falling rocks to oven up and create one of the worlds greatest wonders. Today the Grand Canyon hold plenty of Earth history which I myself hope to see in person this year. One goal already set and hope to accomplish. I still wonder how the crazy snake like shape the Grand Canyon has was created. Earth could have just done a straight line across but then again who would want to see that.

Fake Minerals
Lecture review 101. For those of you with potentially small attention span, we began talking about the many variables that go into determining what is a mineral. One important key factor that will make it pretty easy to start determining whether or not your working with a mineral is if its a solid or a liquid. I'm sure most of us can determine a solid from a liquid or at least I hope. Other mineral definitions would be if its inorganic and if it is naturally occurring. Basically stating that if there is no human or animal interference with the process of developing the mineral. At least that's what I got from it. And of course crystalline structure and characteristic chemical formula. If we can prove these definitions then we are sure enough working with a mineral. Now if only we can solve this gun control dilemma.

First of First
It looks like the Australian people might want to get started on that rain dance pretty soon...record breaking heat has the Bureau of Meteorology adding 2 new colors onto the weather map. Currently the map shows temperatures between 40 to 48 degrees Celsius. The new colors pink and purple will reflect temperatures of 50 degrees and over. Wonder how they came up with these colors or who decides on them. Not too drilled on that hot pink. I guess the better question is what our weather forecast will look like for 2013. I know I'm not looking forward to these heat waves. Still the record high was set back in 1960 with temperatures of 50.7 Celsius. For those who aren't to savvy on the whole temp conversion that's a whopping 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Try cooking an egg on those sidewalks! Well enough about the future skin cancers and wildfires will hear about later. I think the Sunscreen companies are probably the only ones looking forward to hot weather. First of first
